Tonic Tip: 'Tis The Season To Be Charitable!

The holiday season is one of the best times of the year to extend generosity to the less fortunate (unless, of course, you’re a total “Scrooge!”). If you’re still seeking initiatives to show your company’s charitable side, teaming up with non-profit organizations on existing holiday events is the way to go! Corporations that publicly support good causes rank high with most consumers. A recent survey done by PR Week revealed that 64% of consumers have purchased a particular brand because it supports a cause they believe in; and 86.6% of consumers think it’s important for companies to give back through charity. So go ahead and show your company’s charitable side while spreading a little holiday cheer! HERE’S HOW TO FLURRY INTO ACTION: View online calendars of events or contact the charity of your choice to find a good fit for possible sponsorship or donation opportunities. Research independent event lists for additional possibilities (i.e., Hollywood News Calendar, Entertainment News Calendar, The L.A. Eye, Hollywood.com). Identify charities which are already familiar with sponsorship alliances between corporations and non-profits. FOR EXAMPLE, YOU CAN HOP ON BOARD WITH: Make-A-Wish Foundation’s “Weekly Wish Nights” -- Each week, Make-A-Wish Foundation and partnering sponsors make a child’s “wish” come true. The supporting radio stations and TV networks promote the event. “Toys for Tots” -- SecretSanta.org pairs sponsors with this nationwide toy drive that gives toys, gifts and donations to underprivileged children. SecretSanta.org can also assist you with coordinating your own toy drive, food & clothing drive, holiday parade, Santa fund and more. Both of these charities partner with local newspapers, television and radio stations to spread the word about their events. Their partnerships have received media coverage on outlets such as CNN Headline News and the CBS “Early Show,” which may mean media coverage for your company, too! Good luck!
